Chapter Branch – North Central
The North Central branch of USGBC is being formed and is seeking those interested in leadership and participatory roles in this forming branch.
One of the key purposes of the North Central Branch is to promote the mission statement and goals of the USGBC in the north central region of the state of Indiana:
a non-profit organization composed of leaders from across the building industry and concerned citizens working to make green buildings (environmentally responsible, profitable, healthy places to live and work) available to everyone within a generation.
The North Central Branch will continue to develop programs and events with other local groups within the North Central Indiana region supporting the chapter to:
- promote the USGBC and its mission in South Bend, Mishawaka,Elkhart and surrounding communities
- be a green change agent through education and programs
- a forum for local interested citizens can think and encourage others to act globally
- keep the community abreast of local events and opportunities to green the region and the state
Educational institutions in the region will help to capture and move this into the forefront of the community. Local events will feature motivational and informative speakers, educational workshops, tours, and other events to inform the community of the sustainable built environment.
Events sponsored by the state chapter and other branches will be accessible by local members as well as other resources sponsored by the national USGBC.
Collaborative opportunities with other sustainable community groups will be fostered, including:
- Environmental Groups such as the Sierra Club and Hoosier Environmental Council
- Indiana University South Bend, Notre Dame and Ivy Tech
- The Chamber of Commerce as well as City and county government commissions
- The Saint Joseph and Elkhart County Homebuilders Associations
- AIA, ASHRAE, and Other professional associations
- etc.
