Chapter Branch – Northeast

Building Momentum

It’s June, half a year has passed, we’ve come a long way and we have a long way to go. So far this year the United States Green Building Council: Northeast Indiana Branch has sponsored, in conjunction with the City of Fort Wayne, The Natural Step conference and subsequent follow-up meetings, held our first annual GreenRide 2010, presented at a BCA event and held a LEED Credentialing and Maintenance Workshop.

We are currently busy preparing for the 2nd Annual USGBC Golf Outing and several other educational programs for the remainder of the year. We are building momentum and raising awareness! Join us and let’s make a difference together.

More information regarding The Natural Step Framework for Change, The Natural Step’s programs and services and the concept of “Backcasting” see: www.thenaturalstepusa.org

The GreenRide 2010 weathered more rain than shine, but was a success. We had approximately 100 riders join us for a slightly soggy but fun day on the River Greenway. Special thanks to all the sponsors and participants.

On August 23rd, at Coyote Creek G.C. we will be on the links for the 2nd annual United States Green Building Council Golf Outing. If you are interested in sponsoring a team, or joining a foursome, slots are filling fast. Contact Pete Smith at pjsmith@currenthvac.com to sign up. Fore!

Early September mark your calendars for a LEED Home Tour in Auburn.

September 15-16 the BCA Tradeshow will be held at the Allen County Fairgrounds. If your organization is interested in attending or exhibiting at the show see: www.bcatradeshow.com for more information. The USGBC will be presenting a timely topic in a workshop format at the show.

Stay tuned for more event notifications for programs in October, November and our Social Holiday Gala in December. Please make a note to periodically review the website for more details on upcoming events. Also, it never hurts to send a quick e-mail to Jill Gibson, our Communications Chair jgibson@ahattersley.com, to make sure you are on our e-mail list, so you can stay informed with event notifications and reminders.

If you have ideas to help improve our efforts, please let us know or join one of our steering committees. You and your ideas are welcome to contribute and keep up the momentum. I urge you to join the local branch of the USGBC today and support this worthy cause by contacting our Membership Chair, Peter Clendenen: Peter@TechCommCx.com

As we strive to provide the greatest value to our membership we appreciate your volunteer, sponsorship, attendance and financial support.

Yours in community spirit,
Chairman USGBC – NEI Branch
