Chapter Branch – Central

In 2003, a small group of visionalry Hoosiers established the Indiana Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council with the following mission:

To create a diverse coalition of building industry stakeholders within Indiana dedicated to the education about and promotion of sustainable design and the construction and operation of environmentally responsible places to live and work.

Since then, the Indiana Chapter has grown to approximately 500 members. Currently, there are 36 LEED certified projects in Indiana with about 200 more having been registered, and 1,100 LEED APs statewide.

To encourage continued growth and diversity in membership and to promote a greater number of sustainable projects in Indiana, the Chapter has established regional branches throughout the State.  There are currently 5 regional branches, with the Central Indiana Branch, established in 2010, being the newest.  The decentralized governance and operations of the branch system will provide to us as members more and better opportunities to directly and effectively educate and promote sustainability in the communities in which we live, work and play.

A seamless and invisible transition to the branch system is the number one goal of the Central Indiana Branch officers.  All of the outstanding education and networking programs, advocacy and outreach efforts, newsletter and print resources, and other benefits and programs that members have enjoyed over the last 6 years will continue uninterrupted while we establish the framework within which the Central Indiana Branch will operate.

I am honored to serve as the 2010 Chair of the Central Indiana Branch and look forward to an exciting year of continued membership growth, increased interaction with building industry stakeholders in Central Indiana, and cooperation with the State Chapter and National  USGBC office in educating, promoting and advocating for sustainable buildings.

If you would like to help, please contact us.  There are many opportunities to become involved.
